Ugly Sweaters

Author's note: I want this to be a good poem about how ugly sweaters are funny but really wierd.

Even though you wear them,
they are as apealling as rotten phlegm.
You only wear them during christmas,
But they bring no one bliss.
You wear them for contests,
If you get the best,
You will always be teased,
until they are pleased.
You will feel bad,
But then you will be glad.
To know that you won,
And that it was alot of fun.
Plus that you beat the other competitors,
To win the contest of Ugly sweaters.

Thanks for comparing ugly Christmas sweaters to "rotten phlegm" -- I had to laugh at the simile.

I'd love to see another version of this poem in which you focus solely on the word choice. (Since you were concerned about rhyming here, you stuck yourself with words like "bad" and "fun.")

I like this poem. It's what is called closed form. If you use a rhyme scheme, then you want closed form, which is having a set pattern to the piece, a pattern that establishes the number of syllables per line, and the rhyme scheme.
