The Giver (book)

Author's note: My goal in this writing piece is to best describe the book I read, which is called The Giver. Also to tell you about the people and Jonas in this book.

Snow. What does that word mean to you? To the characters in The Giver this word means nothing to them, they think this word is a made up word with no meaning at all. That's what I'm going to write about. The people in The Giver and how they are so different from us.

They are different so different from us that they are color blind. That's right they only see black and white. That means that they don't believe in any colors once so ever. Only Jonas and the Giver can see colors. Technically only Jonas now since the Giver gave Jonas the sight of colors from him so he can't see them anymore. I feel so bad for the Giver. That brings me to my next subject.

While they are colored blind they also don't have any feelings. Well, technically they only have the feeling of happiness. You probably already guessed this but only Jonas has feelings because the Giver gave him the feelings no other person has had besides past givers. Also in one chapter of the book Jonas watched his dad release a baby and he got mad at him for releasing an innocent baby, but Jonas finally realized it wasn't his dad's fault because he didn't have feelings.

With all of his people's faults Jonas finally got fed up with his people. Can you guess what he did? He grabbed the next baby assigned for a release, some clothes, and some food, his dad's bike and ran away. He road the bike duriing the night and slept during the day. Then one night he fell off the bike so he rode during the day from then on. Finally one day when he was riding his bike it started snowing. He rode throught the snow all the way untill he got to a hill. When he got to the top of the hill he found the sled and he to the baby wrapped it up and slid down the hill.
